Mindful Coworking

A calming, focused hour to start your week well.

What is Mindful Coworking?

Mindful Coworking is a free weekly online session I run for my email community. It’s a chance to press pause at the start of the week, take a breath, and then get something done — with more clarity and calm.

We start with a short guided mindfulness practice to help you slow down, check in with yourself, and set an intention for your work. Then we move into focused coworking time — each of us getting on with our own work, in the quiet company of others.

At the end, we take a moment to reflect on how we got on, before heading into the rest of the day.

It’s a gentle, focused way to start your week.

Why join?

Maybe your Mondays often feel a bit scattered or overwhelming.

Maybe there’s something you want to get done, but are struggling to carve out time for.

Mindful Coworking offers:

  • A calmer, more grounded start to your week

  • A sense of connection, without pressure

  • Some gentle accountability

  • Dedicated time and space to focus on what matters to you

  • An opportunity to learn and practise a simple mindfulness meditation

Whether you’ve got something you’ve been putting off, or just want a calm space to focus, you’re very welcome to join us.

How it works

I’ll guide us through each session. Here’s what to expect:

Settling in (3 mins) – A moment to arrive, say hello, get comfy and put any distractions to one side.

Guided mindfulness practise (12 mins) – Time to slow down, check in with ourselves, and set an intention.

Choose your focus – You’ll be invited to briefly share your intention (if you’d like to), and what you’re going to work on.

Coworking time (30–40 mins) – Everyone works on their own tasks, side by side. We’ll be on mute, so feel free to listen to music, talk to yourself, or do whatever helps you focus.

Wrap-up (4 mins) – We’ll come back together briefly to share how it went for us. Then we’ll say goodbye, and head off to whatever our day has in store.

Frequently asked questions

  • The sessions currently run on Mondays, 11am-12pm UK time. They don’t run on UK Bank Holidays.

  • Nope. I’ll guide you through the meditation on the day. If there’s anything you’re not sure of, just ask. I run my own mindfulness course and am very happy to help you get going with mindfulness meditation.

  • No. I invite everyone to turn their cameras off during the meditation. I find it can make it easier to focus.

For the rest of the session, I suggest we have our cameras on, but it’s not essential. Having our cameras on helps make use of the ‘Hawthorne Effect’ - we tend to modify our behaviour when we sense we’re being observed! In coworking, that can mean we’re more likely to focus on what we said we’d focus on.

Please know that you’re welcome to keep your camera off if that works better for you.

  • There’s a real variety!

Some people like to use these sessions for a regular task they struggle to protect time for - for example planning their week, or working on a creative project.

Others like to use the gentle accountability of the group to work on something they might otherwise procrastinate on.

Others clear their inbox, or do some self-care.

Others, like me, tend to mix it up each week!

  • No. Some people decide in advance what they’ll be working on, but you can decide in the session, that’s absolutely fine.

  • Not necessarily. In the past, people have used these sessions to make time for journalling, thinking about returning to work, or even making a nutritious snack.

  • Not at all! You can come every week, or every once in a while. It’s entirely up to you. You’re always welcome.

  • Great question! It turns out that ‘coworking’ is the best way to describe these sessions, because we work alongside (rather than with) each other. Apparently most people search online for ‘co-working’ or ‘co working’. Which is the real reason I’m answering this grammatical question here - to help people find what they’re looking for 😉

If there’s anything you’re not sure of, or you have a question that’s not covered here, please feel free to email me at heather@mindandco.co.uk.

“I felt like I was in the most supportive exam setting ever - wow. I got three times the amount done in that hour.”

“The sessions with Heather are brilliant. I wasn’t sure how it would work beforehand, but now I make it a priority to join every week. It’s amazing how productive I can be!”

“Just reaching out to say how fantastic Monday's mindful co-working session was, it really grounded me for the rest of the day and my productivity was awesome. Thank you 😀”

“I really enjoyed the session. I often set an intention to spend an hour doing something but always get sidetracked so it was great to actually focus my attention for that period of time. I hope to join each week going forward.”
